Press room

The facts,
and the files.

Everything a journalist needs, checkable and dated: the press review, the verified figures, the logos, the photographs, three lengths of biography, and a short list of the things we would rather were not written about us, because they are not true.

Three mistakes we keep reading

Makaya was not founded in Italy.

The house was founded in Port-au-Prince on 16 July 2016. Italy is where Ralph Leroy trained in tempering, in 2018, two years later, and on another continent.

The Cocoa of Excellence awards belong to the FECCANO.

Haitian cocoa was distinguished among the fifty best in the world in 2013 and 2015. That prize belongs to the growers' federation, not to Makaya. Please do not attribute it to us.

Makaya is not Ayitika.

Ayitika is another Haitian chocolate brand, which won at the International Chocolate Awards in 2025. We are glad for them. It is not us.
